How do I homeschool in Washington DC?

A:

Homeschooling in Washington D.C. requires you to submit an "Intent to Homeschool" form to the Office of the State Superintendent of Education Home School office. If you click on our "Important New Member Information" section, then, "New Members Start Here!" you will find the links you need to the OSSE as well as the link to the "Intent to Homeschool" form to print and fill out. Be sure to check out the home school laws you need to follow on the OSSE link.

Why a website?

A website is a centralized, interactive location where JBABHE members can go to find information, pay for activities sponsored by JBABHE, learn about activites in the surrounding area and much more.

How is the website paid for?

A:

JBABHE pays for access to the website with dues collected from each family who joins.

Q:

Is this site secure?

A:

Our website is protected with SSL technology, ColdFusion security, and Linux servers. These are some of the same parameters put in place by financial institutions and other secured sites.

Who has access to the JBABHE website and JBABHE information?

A:

JBABHE members are the only ones that have access to our website and JBABHE information that is deemed secure. You must sign-in to access JBABHE information.  We do not allow non-members to view our activities calendar for the safety of the children.

Why can I see some things without signing in?

A:

The only items available for non-members are the items available to the public. Non-members do not have access to information about events that are deemed only for members through our website. Also non-members do not have access to our family roster, classifieds, forums or secure calendar. We do not allow non-members to view our activities calendar for the safety of the children.  Some FAQ's are available to non-members for informational purposes only.

How much does it cost to be a member?

A:

Our annual, non-refundable fee for the July to June school year is $40 per family.
