The Beginnings of SCCC

History

Southern Cross Christian Co-op (SCCC) was formed in 1994 by Christian parents dedicated to the idea of raising and educating Godly children to love and serve God. The threefold purpose of establishing a homeschool cooperative was and still remains:
1.) To provide support and education to Christian parents who are teaching their children at home.
2.) To provide opportunities for the children’s social, intellectual, and spiritual growth through planned educational and recreational activities.
3.) To promote Christian values, character development, and outreach.

The Firm Foundation

Proverbs 3:5-6 was foundational in the early years and provided the vision for their work in establishing a strong foundation and growing a healthy homeschool cooperative.  “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

This verse continued to be the “key” verse for the co-op for many years.

Although things have changed some over the years, the basic principles of SCCC remain the same, and even the basic structural ideas have stood the test of time.

All glory, honor, praise and thanks be to God, our Father, for leading those wise, hard-working parents to establish a homeschool cooperative that would stand the test of time and bless over one thousand children and parents through the years.
