Q:

How do I join MCH Co-op?

A:

MCH Co-op has a membership limited to 200 children.  Co-op applications for each school year are accepted for a limited time in the spring, depending on openings and availability.  Those applying must be current and active members of MCH General Membership.  Please see "How do I join MCH?" for info on joining for General Membership.

Q:

What kinds of classes does MCH Co-op offer?

A:

Classes at MCH Co-op are generally elective in nature and depend on what parents volunteer to teach.  We are not an academic co-op, though there are often a few options, particularly at the middle school or high school level, that could fill an academic requirement based on classroom and homework expectations.

We offer several choices in each age group for both of our one-hour class blocks.  Choices include but are not limited to Art, P.E., foreign languages, arts/crafts, book clubs, science, drama, writing, photography, etc.  Most of our classes are taught by parents in the co-op for a materials fee, so the variety depends on what parents want to teach.

All Co-op parents are required to either teach or assist in the classroom for one hour each week.

Q:

How active is MCH General Membership?

A:

MCH General Membership represents over 200 families.  Our website and online calendar are available to all general members.  With such a large membership, generally field trips and other social activities are quite well attended, to the point of filling up quickly where there are limited spots available.

Q:

Will my child be the only (3rd grade girl, 7th grade boy, etc.) at MCH?

A:

The children of MCH range in age from infant to teenager.  In virtually every grade level, there are multiple children of both genders represented.  Most grade levels have more than 20 children.  While it cannot be guaranteed that your child won't be the only one of his/her grade or gender at a particular event, it is assured that s/he will not be the only one in the group at large.
