College Preparation, Options, and Testing

COLLEGE PREPARATION, OPTIONS, AND TESTING

Homeschoolers have many post-high school options in today's educational market.  Here are a few of them:

TRADITIONAL COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY:

     Low cost College Classes Now Available to 11th and 12th Grade Homeschool Students:

 

     Preparing for College:

     An HSLDA primer

     Preparation includes:

     a.  Taking college entrance tests:  Given at various test centers.
          -PLAN:  the practice ACT test, taken in the fall of 10th grade
          -PSAT/NMSQT:  practice test for SAT and Nat'l Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Fall of 10th Grade.
           -SAT:  May be taken in 11th and 12th grade.
           -ACT:  May be taken in 11th and 12th grade.  This is the most popular college entrance test in our area.  It is not necessary to take both the ACT and the SAT

2.  DISTANCE LEARNING:  Many Schools offer this.  One of our vendors at the 2008 Conference was Northwestern College of St. Paul, to showcase their distance learning program.  Check individual schools that you are interested in for this option.

3.  MILITARY SERVICE:  Yellow pages and Internet offer access to all branches of our military.
