Sancta Familia Academy Members

Sancta Familia is

  • a home school co-op & collegiate style college prep academy
  • a classical cottage school
  • a cover school for parent educators
  • a support network for homeschooling families

Co-operative Learning

Parents and Sancta Familia Academy work together to meet the educational needs of students in grades pre-k through 12th.  Sancta Familia offers parents assistance in providing upper level courses which students take at the academy while allowing parents to remain the primary educators of their children.  Students may enroll in classes while enrolled in a home education program with the county superintendent's office, or they may choose to use our private school for their record keeping and enroll with Sancta Familia Academy allowing them to receive a diploma and professional school transcripts.

Classical Cottage School

Sancta Familia Academy offers elementary students in grades K through 8 a classical curriculum through attendance from 2 days per week up to 4 days per week.  (Inquire about Monday option for 2008 - 2009)  In the cottage school environment, classes are scheduled in blocks allowing parents to choose to enroll in a 2 or 3 day core curriculum with an optional 4th day of enrichment classes.  Students who continue to receive more than 50% of their instruction from their parents may enroll in the cottage school while enrolled in a home education program wtih the county superintendent's office, or they may choose to use our private school for their record keeping.  Students who receive more than 50% of their instruction at Sancta Familia Academy are fully enrolled in Sancta Familia Academy at no additional charge.

Cover / Umbrella School

Sancta Familia Academy is a non-traditional private school as described in FL statute 617.  We also offer our record-keeping services to distant learners and other students who may not attend any on-campus classes.  Parents who choose to educate their children at home but wish to have the support, guidance, and services of a private school may enroll in our Umbrella Program rather than in a home education program with the county.

Support Network

Homeschooling families, whether enrolled with SFA or the county, will find the advantages of a support network are many.  Fellowship, field trips, park days, classes, parent meetings, book fairs, seminars, and many other perks are available through local support groups.  Sancta Familia wishes to include area homeschoolers in our planned events and extend the services we offer to the homeschooling community in Brevard County.  As a support group member, you and your family are eligible to sign up for classes at our co-op, attend parent seminars and meetings, form clubs and plan park days, join our students on field trips - or plan your own and invite other SFA families to join you, become members of the statewide FPEA, take advantage of our school resources, and much more.  SFA needs parent volunteers to help coordinate more activities for homeschoolers during the 2009 - 2010 school year.
