CHEC is a support group for Georgia families who homeschool in Cobb, Paulding and surrounding counties.
In the 96-97 school year our group began as a ministry of Burnt Hickory Baptist Church and grew as they welcomed new homeschoolers into the group who were not members of BHBC. Currently our group is not affiliated with any church in particular and has about 100 member families.
CHEC offers a variety of activities, fieldtrips, ideas, information, fellowship and support in your efforts to educate your child. We also act as a conduit for information about services available in our area to homeschoolers such as special classes, sports activities, etc.
We operate a very active calendar and email forum that includes information about the group's current events, seminars and other events in the Metro Atlanta area. The mailing list allows members to ask for and receive support and advice regarding homeschool issues.
CHEC is a cooperative homeschool community. Our dues are $20 per year. By volunteering for at least one assignment, ranging from tasks that can be completed from home, field trips, or recurrent activities, members receive a $5 discount on the following year's membership.
Our cooperative efforts allow each member to maintain focus on our homeschooling priorities and personal family activities.
