Thanks to the hard work of the Braaten's we have been blessed to have Fr. Antoine Thomas, CJS, with the Community of St. John http://www.communityofstjohn.com/  and his ministry Children of Hope http://www.childrenofhope.org/ at our Catholic Homeschool Conference next year.

"Children of Hope is dedicated to leading children into the mystery of the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist, following the words of wisdom of our Beloved Pope's JPII and Benedict XVI"

Please save the date on your calendars for the following dates:
Friday, June 11th, 2010 - Family Night with Fr. Antoine from 6 pm to 8 pm with vendor shopping and a desert social afterwards.
Saturday, June 12th, 2010 - 8am to 4:30pm with Fr. Antoine and break-out speakers (TBA), Mass, Confession, lunch, and more vendor shopping.
Saturday, June 12th, 2010 - In the evening we will conclude our evening with our annual teen social.
Sunday, June 13th, 2010 - Fr. Antoine will be leading the Family Eucharistic Adoration hour at Christ the King Parish.

Since we are still in the very early planning stages of our conference, all times are approximate.  We just wanted you to be able to block this weekend off on your calendars.  We know summertime can be very busy.  Also, the conference will be taking place at the beautiful Basilica of St. John in
Des Moines, Iowa.
One last thing, our committee is very SMALL.  If you have any talents you would like to share to make our conference the best it can be, just let us know.  We need as much help as you can offer.
Blessings,
Michael and Alyssa Moody

About Columbus Academy:

Columbus Academy was formed in 1993 to support and encourage Roman Catholic families in Iowa that have chosen home education for their children. Social gatherings, field trips, and a high school graduation Mass are just a few of the opportunities provided with membership to Columbus Academy. Our group stays connected through our web site, which contains a large variety of helpful information, as well as a forum through which our members post questions, share advice, offer prayer requests, etc…

Full access to this web site is reserved for registered members of Columbus Academy. New families are always welcomed, and you will find more information about our group, as well as a registration form, by clicking on “Join Columbus Academy” on the left.

Families are always welcomed to attend one of CA’s events to determine if our group would be beneficial to their Catholic home schooling adventure prior to membership. You may contact Gail Johll at jgjohll@i-rule.net for information on our upcoming events or for more information about Columbus Academy.

MISSION STATEMENT

Columbus Academy is a Roman Catholic Home Schooling Support Group with the purpose of encouraging parents as the primary educators of their children.  We seek to form friendships, share resources, and learn from one another while remaining faithful to the Magisterium and all the Truths of the Catholic Church.

"The greatest destroyer of love and peace is abortion,

which is war against the child. The mother doesn't learn

to love, but kills to solve her own problems. Any country

that accepts abortion is not teaching its people to love,
but to use any violence to get what they want."  Mother Theresa
