Welcome to HUGS Homeschooling Support Group!  

We're glad you stopped by! We are a group of homeschoolers based in Ankeny, IA, but have several families living in surrounding central Iowa cities and towns.   If you are looking for a Christian support group for homeschooling, you've come to the right place.

In order to fully access all the features of this website, you will need to become a member of HUGS. For more information on joining HUGS, click on the link to the left: "How to join HUGS".  If you decide to join you begin by clicking on the link "Request Membership".  

Next you will need to fill out two forms: Family Info Page and sign the Statement of Faith.  Payment for dues can be sent in with these signed documents.

HUGS offers bi-monthly support meetings, monthly field trips, monthly art classes, a chance to connect with other homeschooling families and a wealth of opportunities for your child.  Do you have questions?  We'd love to hear from you. 

Our next meeting will be held Monday, July 28th at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Ankeny.  It will begin at 7:00 pm.  You do not need to be a member to attend.  You may come and just check us out and meet other homeschooling parents.  Informational packets will be handed out at that time.  You may contact Jeannie Kottra for more information.  thekottras @ msn.com

Book Sale: 

HUGS will be hosting a used homeschooling book sale on Monday, July 28th at 6:00 pm - one hour prior to our kickoff meeting.  Anyone is welcome to come,  browse or buy.  There is no admission charge.  Selling of books is limited to HUGS members only.  The Book Sale will also be held in the fellowship hall of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 512 SW Des Moines St., Ankeny.

Homeschooling Under God's Supervision

Mark 9:36-37

Our Statement of Faith:

We believe that Jesus Christ is God's one and only Son.  We believe in his virgin birth, physical death on the cross, bodily resurrection from the dead, and ascension into heaven where He lives eternally.  We believe in 1 John 5:7 which states "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one." KJV

We believe salvation is a free gift provided by the grace of God for all who believe and accept His Son as Savior.

We believe in the divine inerrancy of the Bible and that it alone is the source of all Truth.  It alone is the measuring stick by which we choose to judge all of life.

Our Statement of Purpose:

We believe that children are gifts from God.  (Psalm 127:3)

We believe that parents are responsible for the training and education of the children God has entrusted to them.  Each parent stands accountable to the Lord for the course that is charted and the course that is followed.  We support and respect different methods of education employed by each family.

We, as a Christian home schooling support group, believe that it is our purpose to affirm and encourage families who have chosen to home educate their children.

We agree to maintain a Christian organization, reflecting the biblical principles of love and morality.  We desire to honor and glorify God and to be a light to the community and world.  All group activities will be in keeping with Christian beliefs and standards of conduct
