BRIGHT co-op class registration is now closed for Fall Semester 2010. Thank you for your interest.
Still interested in joining or returning to BRIGHT in January (2nd semester), or simply getting to know the group throughout the year? Here's what to do:
Please contact Mary Ann Rutter at njrutters@optonline.net to schedule a visit to the co-op this semester.
For fellowship, we might be able to direct you to more opportunities in the homeschool community.
For joining us next semester: Because our teaching assistants spots are filled for the year, we'd like for you to bring at least one new class proposal that you would teach, for us to consider spring semester. BRIGHT board will then consider your application for mid-year membership. Thanks, and God bless you!
Hi! Interested in finding out more as you consider BRIGHT for 2010-11? Please see the file on the left, "Considering us? Survey."
As you complete it and send it to us, it can help us to know you, and you to determine if BRIGHT would be a good choice for your family.
We hope to hear from you! - M. Rutter, for BRIGHT co-op
Welcome! Perhaps you have some questions...
What is BRIGHT? We're a homeschool cooperative located in New Jersey's Middlesex County, organized to provide home education families an opportunity to enrich or supplement their children's academic curriculum and social experience within the context of a Christian-based group. We are registered with HSLDA for homeschool group discount membership.
When and where do you meet?
We meet each Wednesday at a church in the Edison/Metuchen area. Most of the $20 per family/per semester fee is presented to the facility as a love offering for our building usage.
We meet once a week for classes, but also extend non-attending web membership to alumni to continue fellowship with BRIGHT.
What classes are offered?
BRIGHT's classes are parent-initiated and parent-led. 2009 classes will include Sciences, Gym, Languages, and Humanities for various ages.
BRIGHT's parents serve at the co-op in some capacity for each hour that their family attends, up to a maximum 4 "service points" required in the day (head teachers and nursery receive 2 points per class, and may be given one or two free hours to spend).
How can I find out more and contact someone?
First, read BRIGHT's information on the sidebar (statement of faith, bylaws, code of conduct, etc) to consider if we are a good match for you and your family. Then simply begin filling out the online membership registration process as far as you are comfortable, and type any questions at the bottom of the form and send. Beginning the registration process in no way obligates you; it is just the best way for us to initially hear from you. If after typing your name and e-mail, you'd like to contact us directly, you may e-mail njrutters@optonline.net.
If I do not know anyone in BRIGHT, how can I join?
BRIGHT usually operates on a "sponsorship" basis - that is, we would already know you within the local homeschool community. If you are new to the area or to homeschooling, BRIGHT will need personal references from your last church and your last homeschool group (if applicable) in order for us to consider your membership.
Meanwhile, God bless you and your family. Again, welcome! -
We want to walk in the light as He is in the light, to have fellowship with one another (1 John 1:7), and to be a light to the world (Matthew 5:14).
