NEW MENTORING PROGRAM

OPEN TO ALL NEW HOMESCHOOLERS

New to homeschooling?  New to traditional homeschooling?  Overwhelmed?  This is the program for you.

S.E.E.K. is implementing a new mentoring program this Fall.  We are very excited to support the homeschool community is this way.

We will be using Home Education 101 series to come along side families who need support.   This “basic course” is designed to offer committed new homeschoolers a small-group opportunity to meet with other parents “in the same boat” to learn about topics of interest to first or second-year homeschoolers – guided by a veteran homeschool “mentor” couple with a heart to lead new homeschool parents on this Journey of a Lifetime.

Chapters will include: Beginning the Incredible Journey, organize your time, Choosing Curriculum, getting dinner on the table, testing and evaluations, teaching tips, home education with style, Organize your home and then ends with Lessons learned.

This program will be KICKED OFF with a Saturday course in which we will do some  get to know you stuff, fellowship and cover Lessons 1-3.  This will be offered on Saturday August 16th from 9:00am to 2:30pm.  This time will include a light refreshment and coffee as well as a lunch.

The Home Education 101 course is open to anyone in the homeschool community. The course cost is $30 for S.E.E.K. members and $38 for non-S.E.E.K. families.  This includes your workbook and folders etc.

Everyone will meet on the August 16th to start the program together, then the program will continue with different small groups.  You will be able to give your preference for groups based on location and/or night of the week that works best for you.

Sign up for this event is now through August 7th.  Please share this announcement on your homeschool yahoo groups, at your church etc.  Everyone is welcome.

Mentor Couples & Details for their group:

Michael and Yara Gehlert

We have been married for 20 years and serve full-time in camping ministry.  We have 4 children that we have homeschooled from pre-K, with a total of 14 years in homeschool.  We have experience with private schooling, public school sports teams and homeschool co-ops(3) and also getting a child into college.  We also participate in music lessons/symphonies.

The Gehlerts will be holding their small group on either Tuesday or Thursday evening based on what the group would decide together.  Children are welcome.  Their home is XXXXXXXXX (blocked for families privacy, will be given in email)
Denver, PA 17517  (about 15 minutes from where the co-op meets.)

Mark and Diana Vojtasek

The Vojtaseks have been married for over 17 years, and are blessed in their four children, Sophia (16), Nathaniel (14), Helena (9), and Clara (7).  They are members of Trinity Bible Fellowship Church in Blandon, where Mark serves as Elder and Chairman of the Music Committee, and Diana serves as Worship Leader, leads worship for Trinity Kids Club, and Co-Leader of “Garlands of Grace”, a Bible study group for young wives and mothers.  She also serves as Church Representative for Life’s Choices Pro-Life Pregnancy Center in Kutztown, PA, coordinating various fundraisers through the year to support this ministry.  Mark is a Research and Development Engineer at Alcon Research in Sinking Spring, while Diana is keeper at home, and they have been homeschooling their children for over 12 years.  Both Mark and Diana serve on the SEEK Board, and Diana will be teaching High School Spanish 1 & 2 at SEEK Co-Op this year.  They love to get away to enjoy God's creation and family time through hiking and camping, and also love to joyfully serve the Lord through their ministries, share a passion for music and biblical worship, and are devoted to diligently leading their children to Christ.

TheVojtaseks will be holding their small group on Monday evenings 7pm to 9pm at their home in Robesonia (about 10-12 minutes from church where our co-op is held).  Children are welcome.  (Address: XXXXXXXX (blocked for families privacy, will be given in email)Robesonia, PA 19551)

John and Deb Goodman

The Goodmans, who have been married almost 20 years, have been homeschooling since 2005 after having sent their oldest to public school for 2 years.  They are one of the founding families of S.E.E.K. and both serve on the S.E.E.K. Board, with John as the president.  Deb is a co-leader for the S.E.E.K. co-op.  This couple has two children, Jennifer (1998) and Jeremy (2000).  They have a heart to serve the homeschool community and are very excited to serve as mentors for this group.

The Goodmans small group will meet on Sunday evenings 6:30-8:30pm at their home (XXXXXXXX (blocked for families privacy, will be given in email) in Wernersville.  Room for children is very limited however they are open to having it at someone in the group’s home if that would be helpful.

Schedule:

Kick-off day with first Lessons 1-3 is August 16th 9:00am to 2:30pm.  Light breakfast refreshments and lunch will be provided.  Childcare can be made available if needed (keeping mind it is a long day if you are able to get care elsewhere it might be beneficial.)

Then weekly small group sessions will start in September (each group will be different) completing lessons 4-8 during September and October.  Then the 9th session will be held in the spring to review the year and help you look at the following year.

If you wish to participate, email Deb Goodman at deb4seek@gmail, for an application to participate in the mentoring program.
