More About BACH

Thanks for your interest in BACH co-op.  I hope to answer many of the pertinent questions you have in the lines below.  By the end you should know if we are a group you’d like your family to become a part of.

Statement of Purpose

Bay Area Classical Homeschoolers (BACH) is a cooperative of Christian families in the Bay Area using Christian worldview, classical history and science curricula.  It is our goal to enhance our children’s educational and social experience by providing cooperative learning opportunities while helping our children to adopt a distinctly Christian worldview.  We will accomplish our goal with monthly co-op meetings, as outlined below, with field trips, and social outings.  It is also our goal to aid parents in the implementation of Christian worldview curricula in their homes by providing support, accountability, fellowship and encouragement.

 Our History

BACH Co-op formed in the summer of 2006 with a handful of families interested in implementing classical education in their home schools.  We began our journey using Tapestry of Grqce as our core curriculum and the Apologia Elementary Science series with co-op meetings twice per month.  Over the last few years, some have chosen to use other classical curricula.  We have returned to our roots and are an exclusively Tapestry of Grace co-op once again.  We meet once per month on the first Friday, from 9:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

 A Typical Co-op Day

In keeping with our format of a classical approach, our day includes public speaking, history, science, and art history activities all within a Christian worldview.  The grade levels of our children range from Pre-K to 12th grade.  To ensure age-appropriateness there are some modifications or substitutions of projects/activities to ensure children of all ages are challenged.

Field Trips, Socials, etc.

We schedule several educational and entertaining field trips throughout the school year including but not limited to Museum exhibits, AD Players, Space Center Houston, the Houston Zoo, Texas Renaissance Festival, Fire Station Visits, Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, Miller Outdoor Theater, HEB Tours, Bayou Wildlife Park, and more.  We also let the children enjoy co-op parties for Valentine’s Day, and Christmas.  We also encourage celebration of birthdays at co-op.

Mom’s Support

With all the busyness of homeschooling we desire and encourage a culture of support one another in the journey. Mom support events are planned and executed by the inclinations of members.
