What is L.I.F.E. all about?

LIFE is a support group for families that are interested in "doing life" with other homeschooling families.  Our focus is on mentoring and encouraging homeschooling families.   

 Some of our activities in the 2011-2012 school year included:

  • Fall Kick-Off  potluck picnic
  • "Newbie Tune-ups" for new homeschoolers
  • Tune-ups for ANY homeschoolers
  • "Mom's Touch Base" nights for re-connecting throughout the year
  • Moms' Nights Out dinners out!
  • Moms' Book Club
  • Mother/Daughter Bunco
  • Mother/Daughter Movie Nights
  • Moms' Movie Nights
  • Project 3:16 (girls' group for 12+)
  • Middle School Book Club
  • High School Writing Class
  • Horsemanship/Equine Science classes
  • Field trips, which in included the West Farm Corn Maze, Cypress Gardens, Roller Skating, Ice Skating, Boone Hall Living History Day, Barrier Island field trip , Charleston Harbor Tour
  • Christmas Party for parents, which included potluck dinner and gift exchange.
  • Valentine's party at Carolina Ice Palace
  • Homeschool Boys Club
  • Preschool play group and park days
  • End of Year Social/Bonfire
  • American Sign Language classes
  • Homeschool Orientations for new and prospective Homeschoolers
  • Middle/High School Paintball

 We have offered the following on-going support, based on group members'  needs and interests:

  •  Information and encouragement for families with special needs
  • Informational meetings for potential homeschool families

  • We encourage Dads to be involved - emphasize FAMILY aspect of  homeschooling.  We provide an orientation and ongoing support for new homeschooling families

  • We offer "how to homeschool" information from several different perspectives
  • We offer preparation/counseling on how to make the most of a homeschool convention
  • We attend homeschool conventions as a group (mini-moms' retreats!)
  • Personal support and encouragement from veteran homeschooling families
