Cross Country

“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!”  Psalm 133:1

The FEAST Cross Country program has been very successful in equipping our young athletes to compete in a God-glorifying way this season. With training and oversight from Coach Mark Jones and Assistant Coach Robbie Farias, as well as help from our devoted parents, our 58 athletes have matured physically and spiritually.

We started out the season with a competitive meet at New Braunfels, in which all of our athletes preformed with a fresh passion and showed an abundance of team unity, encouraging teammates who were struggling. One of our middle school girls, Arianna Farias, had a remarkable race, finishing 4th place in her division.

Our next meet, the San Marcos Runnin’ Rattler Invitational, was less competitive but still very challenging with the dry weather and long course. Fifteen of our runners placed in the top 15 in their divisions, and several others were very close. The JV boys team finished 3rd overall and JV girls finished 4th. Varsity boys: Josiah Richter 11th. JV Boys: Garrett Solombrino 3rd, Justin Bowen 14th, Jordon Lindsey 15th. JV Girls: Moriah Richter 9th. 7th grade boys: Matthew Shands 7th, Kiran Anderson 8th, Angel Martinez 12th, Roger Martinez 13th. 7th Grade girls: Shalome Richter 6th, Jade Lindsey 11th, Evie Holland 12th, Amelia Charles 14th. 8th Grade Girls: Emily Shands 6th, Kali Anderson 15th.

The 12th Annual FEAST Patriot Cross Country Invitational was held at Alamo City Christian Fellowship on a beautiful and cool day. As the first cross country meet we've hosted with new leadership and new families, there were some challenges, but with God's blessing and a lot of hard work, the meet was a huge success. We had 36 schools with 680 athletes who participated as well as many spectators. This was also the first meet for our high school boys to run a 5k. We had 9 runners place in the top 15. Varsity boys: Josiah Richter 4th (17:57). JV boys: Garrett Solombrino 12th (19:55). JV girls: Emi Felix 9th (15:37), Moriah Richter 10th (15:41), Anna Richter 11th (15:48), Bethany Farias 14th (15:59). 5/6 Grade boys: Kiran Anderson 3rd (13:54). 5/6 Grade girls: Shalome Richter 6th (16:54), Jade Lindsey 7th (17:01).

This year, we were privileged to be able to send 5 of our Patriots to the UTSA Ricardo Romo Classic: Josiah Richter, Garrett Solombrino, Emi Felix, Anna Richter and Moriah Richter. Our varsity runner, Josiah Richter had an outstanding performance as he fought for a front position and kept it the entire race. He finished in 10th place in the 4A Varsity division. Garrett Solombrino finished in 4th place in the JV division with over 350 male runners competing. This was a great meet and an amazing experience for those who went! We hope to send a larger group next year.

We had a strong showing, and a lot of kids placed at the Poteet Aggie meet held at the Strawberry Festival grounds. Our middle school team got to run in the rain which turned out to be quite a blessing, and many of them got PRs. All of the kids showed enthusiasm as they encouraged not only their teammates but their competitors. Our JV boys and JV girls teams got 1st in their divisions, with 7th grade boys finishing 4th. Garrett Solombrino 2nd (16:00), Jordan Lindsey 5th (17:17), Peter White 9th (17:28). Moriah Richter 3rd (14:55), Anna Richter 4th (15:11), Bethany Farias 9th (15:46). 7th Grade boys: Kiran Anderson 6th (13:02), Matthew Shands 7th (13:15). 8th Grade girls: Emily Shands 1st (14:05), Kali Anderson 7th 15:09)

The Seguin Matador Invitational was a very competitive meet with top public schools in the area. Our runners had to face the challenge of several hills and some rough terrain. The JV girls ran their first 3-mile race of the season, but they all stuck with it and stayed strong. Our middle school runners had spectacular races, and 4 of them placed in the top 10. 7th Grade boys:  Kiran Anderson 6th (13:27), Matthew Shands 7th (13:29).  7th Grade girls: Arianna Farias 1st (13:07). 8th Grade girls: Emily Shands 7th (13:51). With a highly competitive field of runners, the 7th grade boys finished in 1st place overall.

We are so thankful to our coaches, parents and athletes for their effort, enthusiasm and support!
