FEAST Football in 2014
The Patriots played a full schedule of games in September with notable success on the field. It is clear that the players on the team continue to grow in relationship with each other while learning and improving in the game of football. Football is a rough sport and the boys have enjoyed playing in the rain, the heat and the cooler temperatures. They learn to be tough and not get bothered by the weather as they focus their effort on the opponent and executing to the best of their abilities.
High School kicked off its season on August 30th in Bryan with a victory of the Brazos Valley Christian home school team (BVCHEA). The Patriots scored an eye popping 98 points while giving up 52 points in a wild scoring affair. The Patriots followed up with a much tougher victory over the Castle Hill Eagles winning a hard fought bruiser 40-32. FEAST then made their annual visit to Richland Springs to play the UIL multiyear state champion Coyotes. The Coyotes got the best of the Patriots in a defeat of 62-6 on the first cool Fall evening of the season. The FEAST team has enjoyed a lot of offense from Bryce Benitez’ quick feet and the arm of Jeffrey Dagerath. Senior Josh Offield has also seen a lot of playing time on offense. The defensive effort has been led by seniors Andrew MondragonDeVoss, Travis Robinson and James Ferrios. All three have been instrumental in stopping the opponent from scoring. The Junior Varsity team has also played 2 games in their effort to learn and improve. The coaches are pleased with the progress thus far, and everyone knows there is still a lot of football to play. October will be an important month as teams prepare for the playoffs in November.

Middle School kicked off its season on August 28th at FEAST with a game against Blessed Sacrament Catholic. The team has experienced a couple of key injuries to Isaac Benitez and Christian McDonald. While the Patriots are 1-2, they have fought hard against a couple of outstanding teams in addition to their last minute, come from behind victory over Castle Hills. The younger Patriots are getting a lot of experience and learning how to compete. The team is led by 8th graders James Perez and Cody Beck. Pray for a quick and full recovery of the injured Patriots and God’s grace as they work through the “injury bug.”
