RULES REGARDING CROSSOVER PLAY

The primary focus in this section is on the development of all athletes, especially with players at the younger levels.

 

  1. Athletes may PLAY UP only one grade level(1 year of age).  For example, there will be no 7th graders/12 year olds playing in high school.
  1. PLAYING UP will only be allowed if:
    1. Athlete is exceptional and all concerned parent/coach/athlete/board must agree to PLAYING UP.

OR

    1. There is no team at the athlete’s age bracket
  1. PLAYING UP will not be allowed for the purpose of meeting minimum player requirement unless above requirements are met. 
    1. PLAYING UP will not be allowed if a full team exists. 
  1. PLAYING DOWN will only be allowed if:
    1. An athlete is a first time athlete in need of a lower challenge.

OR

    1. There is no team at the athlete’s age bracket
  1. Once you are defined as a 9th grader, you only have 4 years of eligibility; there will be no “super seniors”.  (Eighth graders that have played up will be allowed the full five years of playing time.) 
  1. If the total number of players eligible for the B/G12 and B/G14 teams is less than the sport base plus 4, then only the B/G14 team will be fielded.
  1. No player under the age of 9 will be allowed in the program; Nine year olds will only be allowed if parent, coach and board agree.  
  1. If the total number of players eligible for JV and Varsity is less than 12 then only the Varsity team will be fielded. 
  1. The LCHSA Board reserves the right to make any exceptions to the above policies on a caseby-case basis.
