EVCHE EVENTS
EVCHE has looked at the list of events from past years and picked out ten key events that are not readily available elsewhere in the East Valley. We believe that our cooperative efforts in putting these events together will enhance each member's schooling adventure. These events are as follows:
The remaining events are either board-driven or member-driven. Park days are the time we get together as families to build community and continuity among our members. The parent/child events are available for anyone that feels led to organize them, similar to field trips and workshops. We singled them out because we feel they are important and desire to see them happen.
Fit For Service P.E. Co-Op
This is a physical education co-op designed to keep EVCHE kids physically fit. This co-op has been part of the East Valley for years, and is now with EVCHE. Children have the opportunity to learn a variety of sports throughout the year and develop friendships. Each parent has the privilege of teaching 8 classes Equipment, training, and encouragement are provided for each teacher. The co-op meets two times a week and runs October-April. Annual Fall Kickoff
Each year, we invite families to come and see what EVCHE is all about, register for the upcoming school year, and sign up to participate in a committee.
Ol' Fashioned Fall Festival
This is a new event that promises to be a wagon-load of fun. It will include bobbing for apples, pony rides, hayride and sing along, chili cook-off, home-made goodies and lots of fun and games and friends.
Park Days/Family Picnics
On a regular basis, we invite parents and their children to spend a Friday afternoon at the park with other families. Several times throughout the year, this is combined with a family picnic, so working parents can join later for fellowship.
History Fair
The history fair is an annual event where students can display their knowledge of history. Each year, a theme is selected for exhibits. History projects can be individual or family-based. Use of a wide variety of media for exhibits is encouraged, including costumes and audio-visual.
Evening of the Arts: Art Exhibit & Talent Show
This is a special evening for families to join together and enjoy our children’s talents and artistic abilities. Each child, regardless of their ability level, is encouraged to come and share their unique gifts with family and friends.
Spelling Club/Bee
The EVCHE participates in the Scripps National Spelling Bee Program each year. This year, Scripps is oppering a free one-year subscription to the Britannica Online Student Edition (a $69.95 value) for use as a prize in our spelling bee program. The winner of our bee will progress to the regional spelling bee and then potentially to the state and national spelling bees!
Family Skit Night
This is a returning event for EVCHE and has proven to be a very fun, light-hearted evening of skits, orations, parodies and more! The skits can be aducational, fictional, fact, or whatever you can come up with . Regardless, it is sure to be a night of fun and fellowship!
Science Fair
Our annual science fair is for students in K-12 grade. This event is always fun for the kids to learn about the scientific process and practice speaking to others about what they have learned. Traditionally, each project is judged by a parent or qualified person from our community and each participant receives a beautiful, colored, satin ribbon.

Stanford Testing
One common need of homeschooling parents is to evaluate their children against national standards for learning and achievement. Each spring, a team of EVCHE members administer the
Stanford Achievement Test for our members. Testing is available for students in grades 3-12.
Parent/Child events (father/daughter, father/son, mother/daughter, mother/son)
We believe it is important to also put on special events where each parent can participate with their children. These vary from year to year, depending on what the specific committee decides.
Ice Cream Social
What a big bowl of fun this is! Ice cream, toppings, and lots of it! Join us for a night in the park, bring your lawn chairs, a blanket, or some park youw for run with friends.
Curriculum & Crafts Fair
As families finish with curriculum, other families are interested in using it. This event’s goal is to sell or trade curriculum, as well as encourage family businesses. In addition to curriculum, homemade crafts, food, etc. will be available.
