Drafting/Architectural Design

9th-12th grade

Teacher:  Vickie Malone

...a very basic, introductory course on drafting/architectural design.  I still have several of my architectural books that I can bring to class for reference purposes.  Students may be asked to do some research outside of class, i.e., report on a famous architect, building codes for a specific location, or specifications for a given facility type. They may have to do some work on their models at home, especially during the weeks of no class meeting.  Conceptual drawings and models would be displayed on dessert/display night.  Only serious, hardworking students need take this class.  My level of expectations would be high as this is what I taught on the college level in Kingston, Jamaica.  Students would need to know this up front.  One of the Field Trip days would be needed to do site visit to construction site and architectural firm.

Supplies:  Each student would need a large drawing board, T square, H & B pencil series, large size graph paper, trace paper, and materials for making a model of their design.
