POTTSTOWN AREA HOMESCHOOLERS
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why Homeschool-Life.com?
A: We chose homeschool-life.com because it was an affordable way for our homeschooling group to have a web site. A web site, we felt, was an excellent way to share our group information and stay organized. Most of our families access the internet and had email so it was a logical fit. For the families that did not have the internet or email, they use the Public Library FREE internet access and signed up for a FREE Yahoo email address. Our web site allows us to easily schedule all our group activities. We used to spend countless hours organizing our information, planning field trips, preparing newsletters and mailing and answering questions. Now, with Homeschool-Life.com, scheduling events and keeping our families informed is a breeze.
We would encourage all our families to take advantage of the family web pages. The kids have a great time learning how to design web pages!
Q: Where are you located?
A: We don't have one location. Meetings have been in the Boyertown/Pottstown/Limerick area, with members coming from the Tri-County area.
Q: Do you meet frequently?
A: We meet most Mondays every week for park days and/or indoor activities. We have monthly parent support meetings and low cost field trips most months. Any member may plan an activity for the group at any time. An online calendar is available to members and a weekly newsletter is also emailed to members.
Q: What is the average age of children in your group?
A: We have all ages in the different events. There are no age limits.
Q: Does anyone in your group do Cyberschool?
A: We do have a few families who cyberschool. We do not have a preference to how a family homeschools their children. It is assumed that members will respect each other's homeschooling choices. The focus is on our commonality of homeschooling not our differences.
Q: Do you have a statement of faith?
A: No.
Q: Are you affiliated with any church?
A: No. This group is not specific to any one religion (or non-religion). All are welcome. Most of our members, at this time, attend a church but it isn't our topic of conversations and we request that deep religious (or lack thereof) discussions be kept outside of this group. Conversations should be focused on homeschooling and general parenting.
Q: Do you have any dues?
A: Due to the use of this fabulous website, as of June 2008, we will be implementing yearly dues, costing each family under $6/year. This will include access to the group calendar, links, classifieds, newsletter, and even your own web space for a family website. We do have a small fund for families who need assistance in paying the annual fee.
Q: Do you teach any classes?
A: We do not teach regular classes throughout the year and we do not plan to in the future.
Q: May I advertise my business?
A: Only members in good standing with PAH may advertise their businesses in our forum.
You may post information about your business in the forum under the category "The Advertising Page." Please limit your announcement to one post only as much as possible. You may post as much information about your business as you like on your family webpage. Be sure to include a link to it in the forum if you do so!
We ask that you please keep the announcements to businesses of your family only. Again, you may post businesses of friends and extended family members on your family web page.
