College Prep Home Education
To better meet the needs of parents desiring to home educate their children through high school, a monthly support group meeting is being offered on the fourth Monday of each month at The Pillar Foundation (15820 Clayton Road, Ellisville, MO) from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Each month will discuss a different topic pertaining to college preparation and applying for college. The goal of these meetings is to provide the nuts and bolts home educators need to feel confident to continue home educating their students through high school.
Some of the topics will be of interest to parents of junior high age students who are planning ahead and all topics will be of interest to parents of high school students who are preparing for college. There will be an open question and answer session at the end of each meeting.

September 28: Prerequisites For High School Graduation And College
Prerequisite Requirements With An Optional Planning Workshop:
This meeting will cover specific prerequisites and how to plan a tentative schedule to fulfill the requirements plus how to provide a quality education for classes that the home educator is uncomfortable teaching. A planning workshop will follow the meeting to help families lay out a tentative schedule to fulfill high school requirements. Bring course titles of high school classes your student has completed or will complete this year.
October 26: Transcripts And High School Resumes For College:
Awards, Leadership, Community Service (High school extra curricular activities. Band, Sports, Choir, Teen Eagles, etc.)
November 23: Scholarship Essay Writing Workshop
For Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors (Limited space is available. Registration is required. Juniors and seniors will receive priority. To register send an e-mail with the student’s name, age, grade,

December: No Meeting
January 25: Scholarships:
(Including scholarship interviewing tips and mock interview practice for interested junior and senior high students.)
February 22: ACT Testing, PSAT Testing, SAT Testing, CLEP Testing, DANTES, and AP Testing
March 22: High School Curriculum Review
April 26: Post High School Educational Choices:
Students will have an opportunity to hear professionals in various careers share information describing their occupational responsibilities, the educational requirements and skills needed for pursuing such a career, and salary ranges for the career.
