ART & DESIGN
Young Artists Students will be taught basic drawing skills, experiment with different media: acrylics, pastels, charcoal, mixed media, etc. We will also introduce some famous artists and enjoy learning about their art style. INSTRUCTOR: Nancy Gilles AGE: 5 - 7 years TIME: MIN/MAX: 6 students/20 students CLASS FEE: $24 month per student + building fee MAT’L FEE: $18 Sept / $18 Jan Compensated class assistant needed if over 8 students in class, less than 8 students and this position reverts to an uncompensated Classroom Monitor Position. Supplies to bring: Sketchbook, ruler, set of markers, set of soft pastels, artist pencils (2B, 4B, 6B), a set of colored pencils (best are prismacolor pencils), kneaded eraser. (All supplies can be purchased at Michael's or Hobby Lobby)
Drawing and Design This class is designed for both beginning and intermediate students who are interested in a broad art experience. We will learn basic principles of design and drawing, and different stylistic techniques. Looking at the Master’s works of art will help us learn how to better work with color, design and value. We will use a variety of media, including charcoal, pen and ink, pastels, acrylic and watercolor paints, and printmaking materials. We will also do some 3-dimensional projects. Instructor will provide: all paper, extra charcoal, colored pencils, and all supplies for 3-D projects. Art Expression with Mixed Media This class is for intermediate students whose desire is to increase their drawing and painting skills and create wonderful art while growing in their creative abilities. We will be learning from the masters and using a variety of media including pastels, acrylics, watercolors, charcoal, pen and ink etc. We will also be exploring 3 dimensional art concepts using clays and other media. (Beginning students welcome with consent of instructor.) INSTRUCTOR: Nancy Gilles AGE: 11 years and up TIME: Choose either MIN/MAX: 8 students / 20 students. CLASS FEE: $25/month per student + building fee MAT’L FEE: $18 Sept / $18 Jan Compensated class assistant needed if over 8 students in class, less than 8 students and this position reverts to an uncompensated Classroom Monitor Position. Supplies to bring to class: Pencils (2B,4B,6B), a set of colored pencils (best are prismacolor pencils), kneaded eraser, ruler, 1 box soft vines charcoal, 1 set colored markers, 1 box soft (not oil) pastels, 1 fine line black sharpie pen, sketch book. (Check Hobby Lobby or Michaels for supplies.) Instructor will provide: all papers, canvases, colored pencils, brushes, paints and 3-D supplies.
Hand Sewing Co-op Hand Sewing is a lost art. In our disposable world, whatever we tear, we toss. In this class, we will learn a variety of useful hand stitches for mending, embellishing, and creating fun projects. We’ll be mending a favorite garment, creating a sock monkey with clothes, neck tie cell phone bag, and a blue jean pocket purse. Parents are welcome to attend and sew along. Students will provide fabric for projects from their own closets. A sewing kit list will be provided upon enrollment.
