DRAMA

Beginning Theater I

This class will be an introduction to theatre. We will study different types of theatre as well as the facial expressions and body language needed to change into different characters. We will be doing improv in the class and a ten minute skit at each of the theatre performances one in January and the second in May.  Modest clothing is a must as there will be lots of movement.  Socks, gym shoes or dance shoes are also necessary.

Beginning Theater II

This class is also an introductory class. We will be studying different genres, comedy, mystery and dramatic. We will also be studying facial expressions and body languages. This class will culminate with a 15 minute skit in January and another in May.

TIME:  10:00 – 10:55 a.m.

Teen Theater

This is a high school level class that will fine tune your theatre skills. From a play for the January show to improv for the spring. We will be working on developing skills that will strengthen our characterizations. Last year we studied the early theatre, this year we will be studying modern theatre from the 1800’s and on. Play choices are either Arsenic and Old Lace, Anne of Avonlea or possibly Our Town. Modest clothing is a must.

TIME:  1:30 – 2:55pm

MIN/MAX:  8 students / 18 students

Drama and Literature

It’s back to class for the serious minded student looking for a Christian world view in the study of literature and theatre. This class has been enjoyed by students that have gone on to college and stated “this class made it so I understood how to compare literature easily. I have succeeded well in college due to this class.”    We will be studying Frankenstein, Dr Jekyl and Mr Hyde, The Wizard of Oz, Sense and Sensibility, and the Simple Life of Noah Webster.

 

This class has writing homework each week with a minimum of one page of questions. There will be a midterm in November, an essay due in February, and a final in May. There will be no performances, as it is a critical study class only.

Students may need to check out the movies or books from the local library to help with comprehension.

 

 

Beginning Dance

The goal of this class is to introduce young students to the discipline of ballet and jazz dance.  Focus will be primarily on ballet, with some instruction in jazz.

 

INSTRUCTOR:  Katie Englehardt

AGE:  6 – 10 years

TIME:  9:00 – 9:55 am

MIN/MAX:  3 students / 10 students

CLASS FEE:  $15/month per student + building fee

MAT’L FEE:  Purchase of costume may be required for winter and spring performances.

 

 

Speed Stacks Co-op

This course will teach stacking routines for performance speed stacks.

 

INSTRUCTOR:  Jackson Hellerman

AGE:  6 years & up

TIME:  Class time will be determined based on enrollment and students' common free time

MIN/MAX:  5 students / 10 students

CLASS FEE:  Building fee only

MAT’L FEE:  A group sports stacks order will be placed at the beginning of the year.  Prices start at around $35.
