CHOIR
Children’s Choir Children’s Choir will work on beginning vocal techniques, rhythm, pitch, and blending with other voices through listening, through a combination of games, special fun exercises and solidly based pedagogical technique! We will be singing (and performing!) a variety of fun songs, ranging from Sacred, to Folk tunes, to Broadway. Basic beginning music theory will be part of this class. Students will gain an appreciation of music and the confidence to perform in front of others. INSTRUCTOR: Feargal King AGE: 6 – 12 years TIME: MIN/MAX: 8 students minimum CLASS FEE: $20/month per student + building fee MAT’L FEE: $20 Sept. Bring: A 1-inch black 3-ring binder; no. 2 pencil; a desire to sing and have fun with music! Any necessary sheet music materials will be supplied from the Materials Fee.
Teen Choir This class will work on music reading skills, proper vocal technique, as well as singing in 2 and 3 part harmony. We will study classical, sacred, gospel and broadway style literature. Music theory will also be a part of this class. Two performances will be required each year. Come join us and let’s build an exciting and fun CHAMPS choir! INSTRUCTOR: Carol Taylor AGE: 13 years and up TIME: MIN/MAX: Minimum 4 students CLASS FEE: $15/month per student + building fee MAT’L FEE: $15 Sept / $15 Jan STUDENT TO BRING: Pencils. Sheet music will be supplied. Fun with Music This class is meant to provide a general music class experience that is fun, high-energy, and educational. It is not a choir and it is not going to be a performance class. Students will sing songs of many styles, learn about rhythm and basic theory, listen to fun classical works, play games, and play instruments, which will help them learn the fun and joy of music.
