Q. What is BHSF?
A. BHSF brings homeschool families together to provide information, interaction, support and encouragement to each other as we seek God’s will in our children’s education. BHSF meets weekly for PE and Park Fellowship.
Q. Is BHSF a co-op, or does it offer one?
A. We are not a co-op, we are a support group that offers various activities.
Q. How do I become a member?
A. BHSF accepts membership all year long. You must come to park to meet a Welcome team member. They will give you a folder with information about us and homeschooling in general. Complete the membership form, see the Service Area Coordinator to select your two service areas of your choice; and give your form and payment to a Board member or Welcome team member to process. After that, you may apply to join the website.
Q. What are the registration fees?
A. If you register at our annual meeting in August, the annual fee is $40, after that it will be $45.
Q. What happens when I join?
A. You and your family will be able to participate in BHSF parent-led organized events; excursions and other activities. You will have the opportunity to serve in the group in two service areas of your choice. Remember---participation promotes ownership. You will also be able to apply for membership on the BHSF website.
Q. What is FPEA?
A. FPE A (Florida Parent Educators Association, Inc.) is a nonprofit, self supporting, statewide homeschool association. FPEA hosts an annual convention in May. Joining through BHSF provides a $10 discount. You will receive Bi-Monthly “Almanac;” Educator Discounts (e.g. B&N, Borders); substantial convention discount.
Q. What is the Home Education Foundation (HEF)?
A. HEF was established in 1991 to raise and support direct lobbying for home education in Tallahassee. HEF exists to safeguard existing legislation and evaluate future legislation.
Q. What is HSLDA?
A. Home School Legal Defense Association is a nonprofit advocacy organization established to defend and advance the constitutional right of parents to direct the education of their children and to protect family freedoms. Through annual membership, HSLDA is tens of thousands of families united in service together, providing a strong voice where needed.
