OUTSIDE TEACHER GUIDELINES

Thank you for your interest in the Cornerstone Home Education Group (CHEG).  We appreciate your desire to share your gifts and talents with our children.  In order to equip you for this exciting opportunity, we would like to give you a glimpse of our vision and purpose.
 
CHEG is a ministry that is dedicated to supporting parents in their God-given role to educate their children.  As the Word of God teaches parents, "You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up" (Deuteronomy 6:7).
 
Please understand that this task requires parent's full devotion, time, resources, patience, and guidance.  To help parents meet these rigors of home education, CHEG assists in coordinating classes like the one you have offered to conduct.  We have developed the following guidelines regarding the teaching of such courses, which we hope you will find beneficial as you consider applying to teach.
 
First, and most important, is that all who participate with us share the vision and direction for ministry that we have detailed above (e.g., born-again Christian and in agreement with our Statement of Faith).  We ask that you complete a ministry application and background check form. These forms are available in the Cornerstone Calvary Chapel foyer near the Information Counter and soon to come at our homeschool website, www.homeschool-life.com/nj/cheg.  Please include a written recommendation from the pastor of your church and a current resume.
 
Second, is the practical issue of compensation.  Teachers may charge $8 per hour, per student, for a maximum of 15 students per course. In addition, a reasonable book/supply fee may be charged.
 
Third, in order to promote the class through our newsletter, the class needs to be offered to CHEG members first.  The class must be limited to 15 students.
