WHAT IS L.I.F.E. ALL ABOUT?

 Cathedral LIFE is a support group for families that are interested in "doing life" with other homeschooling families.  Our focus is on mentoring and encouraging homeschooling families.   

 Some of our activities in the 2009-10 school year included:

  • Fall Kick-Off  potluck picnic
  • "Newbie Tune-ups" for new homeschoolers
  • Tune-ups for ANY homeschoolers
  • "Mom's Chat" nights for touching-base with other moms
  • Mom's Night Out get-togethers
  • Father/Son Geocaching
  • Mother/Daughter bunco
  • Mother/Daughter movie nights
  • Moms' Movie Nights
  • Keepers of the Home group for girls 7-10
  • Girls 4 Grace group for girls 11-14
  • Christmas Craft Day
  • Upper Elementary Book Club
  • Middle School Book Club
  • Do Hard Things group for Teens - some of the teens participated in a 30-mile charity bike rally 
  • "Imagine That" homeschool drama class and performances
  • Horsemanship/Equine Science classes
  • Field trips, which in included a "How to Use the Public Library" trip, West Farm Corn Maze, "A Christmas Carol and Under the Sea" at the IMAX theatre, the Center for Birds of Prey, Kingfish Environmental, strawberry picking at Charpia Farms, and many trips using our "Be a Tourist in Your Own Town" passes.
  • Christmas Party for parents, which included catered dinner and gift exchange.

  • Dad's Movie Night
  • Lego Group
  • Father/Son Bowling
  • Preschool play group and park days
  • Rolly Pollies playdays for preschoolers

 We have offered the following on-going support, based on group members'  needs and interests:

  •  Information and encouragement for families with special needs
  • Informational meetings for potential homeschool families

  • We encourage Dads to be involved - emphasize FAMILY aspect of  homeschoolingWe provide an orientation and ongoing support for new homeschooling families

  • We offer "how to homeschool" information from several different perspectives
  • We offer preparation/counseling on how to make the most of a homeschool convention
  • We attend homeschool conventions as a group (mini-moms' retreats!)
  • Inexpensive childcare provided at most group events held at Cathedral of Praise.
  • Personal support and encouragement from veteran homeschooling families
