HISTORY OF NORTH BALDWIN CHRISTIAN ACADEMY

North Baldwin Christian Academy  became a small homeschool group of parents in 1995. We started out as just a group of mothers that participated in a preschool program  in my home. I was a stay at home mom with a brand new home,  a seven yr old son and a new infant daughter in tow.

We formed a home preschool program and grew from there. The more incidents we had with the public school system and our school age children the more we began to explore the background and laws of homeschooling. We joined HSLDA and formed a small group of parents that wanted to have more say in what our children were exposed to and what they would learn in the early years of education.

Living in a very small town  with  so many public school educators we were frowned upon for homeschooling our son.  No support could be found locally .   We formed our homeschooling group for our families.  Educators in public institutions do not believe we can educate our children better than the local schools in our area. You can see we disagree with them, we offer better opportunities for our children to fully learn a concept before we move on to the next one. This teaching style assures us  the child will be successful and well educated.

We have noticed with the last couple of years the growth of homeschoolers in our small town is taking off. Some of the public school teachers are now staying home to homeschool their own children. This is Great for us because the kids are making friends locally with other homeschoolers that participate in our programs around town.

Ron and I are parents of 4 children, we love the atmosphere of teaching in our home. We use this group as a resource for homeschooling parents that need christian  fellowship and encouragement in the raising of their children.   We have shared so much and grown  close together as a group of  wonderful homeschooling families living in Baldwin county.
