GETTING STARTED

If you are new to homeschooling, or new to Florida, the thought of getting started can be daunting to say the least. We hope to provide the answers to your questions here. Please do not hesitate to ask questions of your fellow homeschooling parents, they are a wonderful resource. You will, however, want to check the laws yourself from time to time.

There are three ways to homeschool legally in Florida.

1. Register with your county school board and follow the home education statues. 1002.41 Home Education Programs

2. Enroll in a Private School that has a homeschooling option. This may also be known as a "Non-Traditional Private School", an "Umbrella School", or a "600" school. 1002.42 Private Schools

3. Use a certified tutor. 1002.43 Private Tutoring Programs

Whichever way works best for your family is fine, as long as you follow the rules!!

You will find links to sample homeschooling forms listed in our Public Pages.
