Why does Sonshine have a Statement of Faith? |
A: |
Sonshine’s Statement of Faith must be signed by all families before they are accepted into the group. The Statement of Faith lists the basic tenets of Christianity. The Statement of Faith is to inform everyone of the standards held by Sonshine . By stating our common beliefs, we can attend functions with the understanding and expectation that the families we will be interacting with have the same values. |

May a non-member participate in field trips? |
A: |
Non-members may not participate in field trips. Sonshine members sign a Statement of Faith and have agreed to our field trip rules. Non-members will not have signed the Statement of Faith and may not know our group’s expectations. Additionally, there are families who join only to participate in field trips and it would not be fair to allow others to participate without joining. The only exception to this rule is when a minimum number of participants are needed and there are not enough people within SCA to meet the minimum. |

Do you offer discounts to families in hardship? |

Sonshine Christian Academy offers discounts on fees to families in need. The discount covers the membership fee for SCA for 1 year. The SCA Board of Directors decides on recipients. If your family is in need or you know of a family who would benefit from a fee discount to SCA, please contact a Board member. |

What is FPEA and do I have to join when I join SCA? |

FPEA is the Florida Parent Educators Association and is a statewide organization. They offer homeschooling information and they have a large convention in Orlando every May. As a member of FPEA you are entitled to various benefits including a newsletter and a reduced price for convention tickets. There is a membership fee for FPEA; however if you join using the SCA discount code, your FPEA membership fee is decreased. Join FPEA on the FPEA site, www.fpea.com. |

What is the deadline to join FPEA through SCA in order to receive the discounted group rate? |

FPEA has updated their website. Now, you join FPEA on their website. A discount code (GRP-0155) is used to receive a discount as a Sonshine member. FPEA will freeze their memberships sometime in the spring. Please check out their website, www.fpea.com , to find their rules for memberships and costs. |

If I join SCA midyear, may I get a discount on the membership fee? |
A: |
The regular SCA year runs from August 1st through May 31st. Summer months overlap new and old memberships. We do not offer discounts or prorate memberships. |
