Our Next Meeting is November 20, 2014

6:45 pm

We are pleased to announce that Cindy West is joining us again!! For those of you who missed the opportunity to hear her speak in September here is some background information - Cindy West is a homeschooling mother of three with a passion for living literature, unit studies, and building up each child's unique gifts and talents. She will be speaking on Living Literature from Pre-k-grade 12.  We will discuss the definition of living literature, characteristics of good books, and where to find go to list sources.  We'll talk a bit about where to add living literature into the schedule and everyone will take a few minutes to jot down some ideas for adding good books to their personal homeschool schedules.  Finally, we'll talk about what to do during and after reading a good book.  We will break into small groups and be given one book and asked to come up with a few ideas for comprehension activities/discussions/end-of-book projects.  Small groups will also evaluate books to determine if they are living literature or twaddle.

Please join us for this evening of encouragement and teaching. As always we would love for you to bring a snack and chat after the meeting. If you do bring a snack, please remember that we are now nut free.

Also, if you are registered for the Galt House field trip please bring your payment to the meeting. If you can't attend the meeting please mail your payment to Meagan Love.

More info on its way soon!

The decision to homeschool your children can be overwhelming! But we are here to tell you that the rewards are worth the effort. Heart'n'Home School Support Group of Southern Indiana (HnH) exists to help provide the information and the fellowship we all need to have the best home schooling experience. We're glad you're here!

What is Heart‘n’Home?

Heart‘n’Home is a Christian homeschool support group for the parents of homeschooled children. HnH provides opportunities for fellowship, field trips, mentoring, information exchange, and much more. All these activities are organized by our members and are a result of members volunteering their time, talents and energies to create opportunities for themselves and the rest of the group.
When do Heart‘n’Home members get together?
Much of the communication between HnH members occurs online via the forum on our web page. This forum has a wealth of information and is a great place to ask questions of more experienced homeschoolers. Members can choose how they receive these e-mails.
HnH meetings are held monthly on the third Thursday of the month in August, September, October, November, January, February and April. (In December we have a special time for the moms, but it is not a regular meeting.) Topics for  meetings are varied and will be posted on our calendar in advance. There will be time for fellowship after meetings. New families looking for a support group are welcome to visit one of our meetings.  Membership is required to participate in further meetings.
How do I become a member of Heart‘n’Home?
Membership requirements involve being in agreement with our Statement of Faith, Statement of Purpose and being willing to serve the group in some capacity. Registration is available online and there is a yearly membership fee of $15.  Registration for 2014-2015 membership opens May 1, 2014.
