Family Mission Statements

Graceland Baptist Apex

3600 Kamer Miller Rd, New Albany, IN  47150

It is probably safe to say that every successful company and organization has a mission statement.  Throughout the Bible there are mission statements for Christians.  As parents, you probably have goals for your children, some spoken and some unspoken.  These big goals for our families rarely happen on accident.  Come to the meeting this month as we put these large overarching goals for our families into focus with a family mission statement.

Join us as we hear from a Heart'n'Home dad of three and husband to board member Lysa Peters, Mark Peters.  He will speak on how to write a family mission statement that will, with God's grace, establish within our families individual identiies in the body of Christ and refresh us to have drive with purpose.

So many times we want to serve as a family but don't know where to start looking for opportunities that are appropriate for children.  Along with Mark's talk, we have asked some local, family friendly ministries to either send a representative to come to our meeting or the send materials about their work in our community for you to read and take home.

Both moms and dads are encouraged to come to every Heart'n'Home meeting, but this one seems especailly important for husbands, as leaders of the home, to attend.  If possible, come to this meeting as a couple.  Bring the kids with you if childcare is not available.  Don't stay home because you don't have a sitter!  The children can play quietly on one side of the divided room while the moms and dads learn and encourage each other on the opposite side.  However, if both of you can't get away for the evening, then we hope and pray one of you will be able to make it.

As always, plan on staying after the meeting to hang out and build one another up.  Bring a snack to share if you'd like, but please remember we are nut-free starting this year.  Thank you Heart'n'Home!

We, the board, look forward to seeing you all at this meeting!

The decision to homeschool your children can be overwhelming! But we are here to tell you that the rewards are worth the effort. Heart'n'Home School Support Group of Southern Indiana (HnH) exists to help provide the information and the fellowship we all need to have the best home schooling experience. We're glad you're here!

What is Heart‘n’Home?

Heart‘n’Home is a Christian homeschool support group for the parents of homeschooled children. HnH provides opportunities for fellowship, field trips, mentoring, information exchange, and much more. All these activities are organized by our members and are a result of members volunteering their time, talents and energies to create opportunities for themselves and the rest of the group.
When do Heart‘n’Home members get together?
Much of the communication between HnH members occurs online via the forum on our web page. This forum has a wealth of information and is a great place to ask questions of more experienced homeschoolers. Members can choose how they receive these e-mails.
HnH meetings are held monthly on the third Thursday of the month in August, September, October, November, January, February and April. (In December we have a special time for the moms, but it is not a regular meeting.) Topics for  meetings are varied and will be posted on our calendar in advance. There will be time for fellowship after meetings. New families looking for a support group are welcome to visit one of our meetings.  Membership is required to participate in further meetings.

How do I become a member of Heart‘n’Home?
Membership requirements involve being in agreement with our Statement of Faith, Statement of Purpose and being willing to serve the group in some capacity. Registration is available online and there is a yearly membership fee of $15.  Registration for 2014-2015 membership opens May 1, 2014.
