Location
Midwest Twisters Gymnastics GYM- Oak Creek
600 E. Rawson Avenue. ?
Oak Creek, WI 53154? US
This location has a MEGA HUGE field of milkweed, adjacent to Midwest Twisters – Oak Creek parking lot. This is the largest source of easy accessible milkweed I have found so far.
Additional Information
It's Monarch Butterfly Season. The monarch caterpillar feeds on milkweed. Monarchs are the only known insect that migrates. For many years Pam Courtney has offered a monarch tag and release program, where students raise monarch caterpillar(s), observe the transformation to butterfly, tag and release.
Fun Fact: Monarchs migrate to Mexico. One of our tagged monarchs was recovered in Mexico.

I will be checking with Midwest Twisters on Monday to see about a homeschool tour of the gym, and 1 hour use of a meeting room in the property. This is not a park setting, it’s a HUGE, MEGA field of milkweed. (Still working on a connection to see if we can use a room at Midwest Twisters gymnastics) Even so, if the meeting room does not get arranged, the class can be done in the field Bring a folding chair!
* Note: I have held monarch tag classes at this location in the past, and families combined the field trip with a gym play time at Midwest Twisters.
FOR: families and students of all ages.
COST: Caterpillar larva is available purchase for those wanting to take a caterpillar home, and participate in the tag and release program. Cost is only for those wanting to purchase caterpillars.

Upon completion of the one-day field day class (approx. 2 hours)
