High School from a Mom's Point of View
We don't work on a daily basis, but more of a weekly basis. Andy is a very independent learner. He prefers to be in his room where he can listen to music and work in relative quiet. We have a weekly meeting where we go over his assignments for the work. He takes time to add his assignments to his planner. This gives him the freedom to work on his school at his own pace. I make it a point to touch base with him multiple times during the day to see how he is coming along. He will come to me when he has a question. If his question is not urgent, he will make a note of it and ask me later. He loves to play stump the teacher. This year he is craving more and more work. He seems to be thriving on the additional workload that our science program has brought. He records his hours in his journal. He uses his iPod to track his time. While we do not have to keep track of hours, he prefers to. He also keeps track of his days. We are using a variety of curriculum this year. He is using Complete Curriculum for Math & Language Arts, Apologia for Science, A Trail Guide to World Geography & various books from the library for Literature.
