Foundations/ Essentials Director

My name is Juliene Petrescue and I am a homeschooling mom. I am excited to be the Foundations/Essentials Director of Largo! My husband, Burt, and I have been married for 14 years. The Lord has blessed us with 4 beautiful and energetic children: West (12), Peyton (11), Joel (9), and Daisy (8). We have been homeschooling through Classical Conversations for the past 7 years. This will be are 8th year and I am looking forward to another awesome year.

I have lived in Florida for most of my life and graduated from public school. When it was time to start registering our first child, my first thought was to find out which school we were zoned for. The word homeschooling was not part of my vocabulary until my husband suggested that maybe we should look into it. My initial thoughts were, “what is wrong with public school, I went to public school” and “am I even qualified”. However, I wanted to consider that maybe the Lord was leading my husband down that road. So I did some research and spoke with several homeschooling moms whom I knew and trusted. The Lord kept bringing back Classical Conversations so I sent my husband to an info meeting. I figured, let him go and find out about it first. And he did! He returned and said that he loved it and that I should attend an info meeting myself. Well, I went and sure enough I was hooked. I loved every aspect of what Classical Conversations was about. After much prayer we decided to try it out and we haven’t looked back since.

We love the mission, “to know God and make him known”. We love the model which CC teaches for combining a biblical worldview and classical tools. Another big aspect for our family is community. In Hebrews 10:25 is states, “do not forsake the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some have; but exhort one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching”. I believe that it is important to have fellowship with one another, to encourage each other in our homeschooling journey and pray together often.

I am praying for a spirit of unity and love as we encourage one another in educating our children. Also that the Lord will use Classical Conversations for His own glory first and foremost and that He will use it to help us to grow in knowledge, understanding and wisdom.

With many blessing
