Additional Information

Houston Symphony Middle School Educational Concert Series- NO CHILDREN UNDER 5 CAN ATTEND.

It's SymphonyTime again! These kid-friendly concerts are a joy for everyone involved. This is a unique opportunity for us to hear the Houston Symphony for only $10! This particular concert is geared for students in grades 6-8, but anyone age 5 and over is welcome to attend.  You may pay me by paypal, Venmo, CashApp, cash or check. Send Paypal payments to leslie.hurd@comcast.net. Venmo to 832-768-9663. CashApp is $lesliedhurd. Please make checks payable to Leslie Hurd and put them in my folder. I must receive your payment by Nov. 10

Please arrive promptly at 9:30 so that we may be seated together. We either meet outside in the courtyard, or in the lobby if they will let us in early. The concert begins at 9:40 and last approximately 55 minutes. I do not know if Bayou Place Plaza is available to picnics. It was under construction last I heard. It has tables and chairs, and plenty of room for kids to run around, although kids are not allowed to climb on the parapet walls that form flowerbeds around the picnic area. The restrooms are usually locked, but you may use the restrooms located in Jones Hall, but it's a bit of a hike. You may bring your lunch boxes/coolers into Jones Hall, and leave it in the lobby behind the counter there. It will be safe. Parking is available on the street or in any Theater District Parking Garage that says "Jones Hall" on the sign. Parking cost is based on how long you stay- I think the minimum is $6, but it usually ends up being $9-$12. Allow plenty of time for parking and walking to the venue. Sometimes parking is very difficult.

Join us as we explore various ways composers can use the orchestra to show the beat and use melodies – from solos to musical conversations, to imitation, and the fugue.
