How to Get started Homeschooling
1. What's required for Mississippi Residents?
Currently in Mississppi there one requirement: All children ages 6 - 17 must have a Certificate Of Enrollment (COE) form filled out and turned in to the local attendance officer by September 15 of each year. You can obtain this COE by calling your local attendance officer and leaving a message stating how many cards you need and your address. 2. Attend State and Area Home Education Conferences.
Although not required it is very helpful to attend conferences. Conferences and booksales offer exciting opportunities for homeschool parents and students to come together being encouraged and sharing ideas together along with learning educational ideas from keynote speakers.
3. Choose your curriculum.
This is the foundation of your child's academic future. Need some help getting started...look in our links menu.
4. Join one (or more) local support groups.
Finding and joining a local homeschool support group affords homeschool families opportunities to share and learn from each other and to participate in various activities. It serves to provide a basic network of like-minded people committed to moral and academic excellence.
May God bless and guide you in your journey.
