FAQs

Q:

What is Hupomone Homeschoolers?

A:

Hupomone Homeschoolers is a non-profit 501(c)(3) Christan co-op with a mission to glorify God as we endeavor to encourage, support, disciple and minister to families in the Mat-Su Valley.

A cooperative is defined in Webster's 1828 Dictionary as people operating jointly to the same end. Therefore, the most important aspect of a co-op is that everyone does something. Parents can participate by being teachers, class helpers, hall monitors, set up and clean up crew, etc. Each person must contribute to make the class day a success for all.

Q:

What is our mission?

A:

Our mission is to glorify God as we endeavor to encourage and support families as we navigate the homeschool years together. We believe that as the body of Christ, each having different gifts, we can be a light, sharing skills, resources, and the Word of God, which God has so graciously entrusted to us. To remain focused on the main goal: To share the love of Christ and teach with God’s inspired, infallible Word being preeminent.

Q:

What are the Financial Responsibilities?

A:

1.  You need to become a member of Hupomone Homeschoolers at a cost of $125.00 per family per year. This allows Hupomone Homeschoolers to pay general operating expenses and give scholarships to homeschooling families in need.  Please contact our Treasurer for scholarship information.

2.  Class tuition and/or materials fees are noted in the description of each class.  Total tuition and/or materials fees depend upon the number of children you have enrolled and the classes in which they are enrolled in.

Q:

Do you require Background Checks?

A:

As a Christian based ministry it is the intent and desire to provide a caring, safe and secure environment for children in all phases of education. In addition, our aim is to maintain the safety and reputation of the teachers and volunteers that make this co-op possible.

It is co-op policy for everyone working with children to have a background check (this includes any outside vendor teaching a class for co-op). You will not be allowed to participate in Hupomone Homeschoolers without this background check. The fees for the background check will be incorporated in the membership dues. Failure to complete the background check paperwork or an unfavorable result of the background check will automatically terminate your participation in Hupomone Homeschoolers Co-op.
