FAQs

Q:

How do I apply for membership to Crown Homeschool Community?

A:

Click apply for membership to fill out an application. You will receive an email confirming receipt of your application.  Membership approval can take up to 1-2 days, so if you want to register for co-op classes, do not wait until the night before to apply for membership.

Q:

How much does it cost to join Crown Homeschool Community and the co-op?

A:

We are happy to announce that membership in Crown for the 2018-2019 school year is only 60.00 for the entire family for the year.    This fee covers the insurance, website, and other costs to help make Crown the best homeschool ministry support group for your family.

Co-op is optional with your Crown membership.  Co-op has a separate fee of 35.00/family/semester.  There are two semesters available during the school year.   This fee covers our rent and other minor costs to run co-op. Other costs include books and supplies, and fees for certain classes, particularly the high school classes. Financial costs are kept at a minimum because the real cost for every member is their commitment, time, and effort to make this co-operative organization run effectively.

There may be other optional events that have costs associated with them like: field trips, social events, etc.

**Everyone must be a current member of Crown Homeschool Community to participate in co-op.  This is a separate fee.

Q:

Can I join Crown if I'm with a charter school or a private homeschool group?

A:

Yes! Crown is not a school.  Anyone that homeschools can join, whether you are with a charter school, a psp, or you file your own affidavit.  We are a support group that offers all kinds of co-op classes, field trips, moms night out, teen & tween events, and so much more!  This is the place to get connected and join a community of loving and supportive families while you navigate through your homeschool journey. Many solid friendships are formed for both students and parents!

Q:

When and where does the co-op meet?

A:

We meet at Calvary Chapel of the Canyons on Wednesdays.

Q:

Can I drop off my children for classes?

A:

No. This is not a drop-off program. A parent must stay on campus and teach or help in classes they are assigned to. Being a part of a co-operative organization means everyone pulls their own weight to maintain a successful program.

The exception is that if your student is at least 14 years old and in a high school level class.   These students may be dropped off, however the parent is still required to volunteer once a month at co-op.  However, If there are younger siblings on campus, you may not leave.

Q:

Can I enroll students that are not my children in the case that I am homeschooling or babysitting children from other families?

A:

No. Parents (or guardians or homeschooling grandparents) are only allowed to enroll their own children for co-op.

Q:

Does the co-op have programs for children who are not of school age yet?

A:

Yes. We have a nursery and a preschool.  Our nursery and preschool classes are for the siblings of children that are in classes Kindergarten and older.

A:

We currently have 80 families as members of Crown Homeschool Community.

Co-op has approximately 45 families involved in classes. We have about 160 children who attend co-op classes on a weekly basis, all the way through high school age!

Q:

What are some ways that the co-op promotes unity and cooperation among the students?

A:

We have monthly park days and occasional  family picnics for the entire group to get together and fellowship.

We will also be offering more social events throughout the year.

Q:

Is this a religious organization?

A:

We are a collection of families from a variety of denominations. We have a Statement of Faith that members are required to sign in agreement to.  Our purpose is to support each other in our homeschool endeavors while encouraging each other freely with the Word of God. You will find an environment of faith and a Christian worldview in all our classes and activities.
