We are a small, parent-lead homeschool group near Pipe Creek, Texas. Our objective is to provide opportunities for homeschooling families to build positive, lasting friendships, and to foster a love of learning through educational enrichment field trips and classes.
What’s a parent-lead group, you ask? We are a group organized by homeschool parents for homeschool families. We are what our parents and students need, which changes some from year to year. We are organized and operated by volunteers.
Currently, we offer enrichment classes on Monday afternoons, as well as field trips and social gatherings. We run with three sessions: fall, winter and spring. Each session offers a different variety of enrichment classes, as well as at least one field trip and social event. Our classes are taught and/or organized by our parents, which keeps our costs down. However, all parents are therefore required to help in some way, either by teaching or assisting in teaching a class, planning a field trip or organizing a social gathering.
To give you an idea, classes offered in the past include chess, physical education, geography, knitting, science, and cooking. Field trips have included the Frontier Times Museum, HEB, the Gorge at Canyon Lake, and iFly indoor skydiving. Special events this past year included a Back-to-School Pool Party, a Thanksgiving party, and a Science Fair and Art Show. Since our families do the planning, we are able to organize what we need and/or want and make it happen.
We expect people who want to be in this group to be respectful, to honor commitments, and work to foster a positive community for our kids and families. Teachers are expected to prepare for their classes, and students are expected to participate. Parents are responsible for the supervision of their own children.
We are open to all families who are activity engaged in the home education of at least one child in grades K-12 in the Bandera County area. Please contact us for more information about joining our group. Annual dues and session fees for classes do apply.
