FAQs

Q:

When do you meet?

A:

We meet 15 times per year, usually the first and third Tuesdays of the school year.
(October, November, December, February, March and April)

We meet one time per month in September, January and May.

Classes begin at 11:30am and end at 4:00pm with lunchtime from 12:30pm to 1:00pm.

Q:

Where do you meet?

A:

We meet at:

South Suburban Evangelical Free Church
12600 Johnny Cake Ridge Road
Apple Valley, MN 55124

Q:

Is SCCC a Christian Co-op?

A:

Yes. We are a Christ-centered Co-op. Although we meet at an Evangelical Free Church, our members come from several other denominations. All members are required to agree with our Statement of Faith.

Q:

Do you follow a certain curriculum?

A:

No. We do not use a specific curriculum. Each teacher is required to submit a syllabus for his or her class for Board approval each year, but the choice of which curriculum to use is determined by the teacher.

Q:

Are SCCC teachers licensed teachers?

A:

Some of our teachers are licensed and some are veteran homeschoolers. Each teacher must pass a background check and be highly recommended by others from outside the Co-op before they can teach at SCCC.

Q:

Can I drop my child(ren) off at the beginning of the day and pick them up at the end of the day?

A:

No. SCCC is a Cooperative. We cannot function without the participation of each member. One parent must remain on the premises to participate in Support Group and must fulfill at least one Service Position. We try our best to match members to a service position that best utilizes their God-given gifts and skills. Being able to participate in the Co-op is what makes SCCC fun and leads to success for everyone.

Q:

Where do I send payments?

A:

Please send payments to:

Apple Valley, MN 55124

OR

Use the PayPal option as provided

Q:

Can I bring children other than my own to Co-op?
(daycare, foster, visitors, etc.)

A:

All children (infant through 8th grade) present at Southern Cross Christian Co-op must be registered members of SCCC and enrolled in classes or the nursery. Due to staffing and liability reasons, SCCC cannot allow other children (foster, daycare, older/younger, visitors, etc.) on the premises during Co-op meetings.

In the event another child is added to a family membership during the year, a reasonable attempt to include that child in classes will be made. However, SCCC cannot guarantee room for additional students will be available after the first Co-op of the year. Tuition for children added during the year will be prorated.

Parents of enrolled children must remain on the premises during the Co-op day. In the event a parent must be absent, a Temporary Guardianship form must be completed and signed by a Board member and kept on file.

Q:

Is my 3 year old ready for the preschool class?

A:

We defer to each family as to when their students are ready to join a co-op setting. Most families will send their preschool age children (3 to 5 year olds) when they have a basic understanding of letters and numbers, can use scissors, glue, markers, etc. with some assistance, can handle separation from Mom or Dad, and are potty-trained. Our preschool program is designed to enhance or build upon what is being done at home.
