Classical Conversations Sewell

Classical Conversations Sewell was started in 2013 with 6 families, totalling 12 children, dedicated to homeschooling their children. Today our Community has over 45 families and 70+ children. CC Sewell offers Foundations, Essentials, Challenge A, B, I, II and IV. Every summer we hold a three-day Parent Practicum, including camps for the kids, for any homeschooling family in need of refreshment and encouragement or anyone interested in knowing more about homeschooling & CC, as well as for CC families.

What is Classical Education?

What is the Classical Model?
The classical model divides learning into three phases:

The Grammar Stage: Learning the words and terms associated with a subject.

The Dialectic Stage: Asking questions, sorting, comparing, and practicing the knowledge learned in the grammar stage.

The Rhetoric Stage: Communicating the truth of the subjects learned in the dialectic stage through writing, speech, or conversation.

This is the classical model of education that was used by the great thinkers and leaders of the past, including Aristotle, Plato, C.S. Lewis, and Thomas Jefferson.

Classical education is sometimes called “leadership education” because it builds skills needed for leadership: logic, debate, public speaking, clear reasoning, researching, writing, and communicating. These skills are practiced in every subject (math, science, history, geography, Latin, fine arts, and more), which prepares students to become leaders in any field they pursue.

Classical Conversations exists to empower parents in the academic teaching of their children through Parent Practicums; as well as establish and support Classical Christian Communities that enable parents everywhere to equip their children with (1) a Biblically-based world view and (2) the classical “tools of learning,” in order to impact the world for God’s glory.

the mission - to know God and make Him known
the model - to combine a biblical worldview and the classical tools of learning
the method - to equip parents and encourage students
