LEGO Brick Car Derby (and Opening of Board Nominations)
Ladies and Gentlemen, start your engines!
Well, not really. Just warm up your LEGOs! Everyone is invited to build and race cars out of LEGOs. Racing teams will be divided by age groups, and races will be held in heats. Teams may be comprised of families or a group of friends. This will also be a Crazy Team Night, so dress in matching shirts, wild socks, goofy hair - the sky's the limit - anything to draw attention to your team and your car!
We'll be racing cars down very specific racetracks, so you have to build your cars by some rules, which are attached below. Please note the rules are for continuity in the cars and racing, not for causing your hair to fall out or stress ulcers to form: there will be grace in time constraints and rebuilding of vehicles after heats. For those who have raced in a Pinewood Derby, it's the same idea, with a few changes.
Please sign up on the calendar so we'll know how many teams to plan for. You don't need to sign up all members - just one person per team. You can keep your team name secret, too.
So on your marks...get set...build!
*Nominations also open this evening for the Board of Officers positions of Vice President, Treasurer, and Membership and Co-op Director. Any member may submit his/her name and Board of Officer Candidate Information Form for TEACH Texarkana to the Elections Committee before the close of nominations at the beginning of the April Monthly Meeting. A husband and wife may submit their names if they desire to run for and hold an Officer position jointly. The Candidate Information Form is available on the website.
