Luray Caverns Field Trip

Add to Your Calendar: 11/11/2021 10:30 11/11/2021 13:00 America/New_York Luray Caverns Field Trip

This Veteran's Day, let's travel a little bit west and take education underground as we explore and learn about the geology, chemistry, and history behind the wonder of Luray Caverns.

We have a tour reserved for our group. The tour is great for the whole family. There is no "cap" on registration, so grandparents and other family members are welcome. The cost is $8.50 for students in grades K-12 (under 5 years old is free), and adults are $14.00. This is about half the cost of regular ticket prices! No pre-payment needed... we'll pay when we check in as a group.

Please RSVP via the website by Tuesday, November 9th so I can provide an accurate headcount (and so I know to look for you, too).

We'll meet at 10:30 in front of the ticket/gift shop and begin our tour once everyone's arrived. Please try to be prompt so we do not keep our hosts waiting. Plan on allowing about 1 hour and 45 minutes travel time from the Woodbridge area.

When you arrive you'll find one big parking lot. We'll meet up at the group check-in point in the Car and Carriage Museum, which is on the same property.

POC: Erin Rowe, 402-415-5085, [email protected] .

After the tour, you are welcome to purchase separate tickets for the rope adventure park and garden maze.

The tour will probably be narrated from an evolutionary/old earth standpoint, so depending on what views you hold this will be a good starting point for discussions with your children.

About the caverns:

"Welcome to Geology’s Hall of Fame

Luray Caverns is the largest and most popular caverns in Eastern America.

Baseball has one. So does rock and roll. And after millions of years, geologists have one, too. Discover it for yourself. We are proud to offer guided tours along well-lighted, paved walkways that lead visitors through cathedral-sized rooms with ceilings 10-stories high, towering stone formations, and natural wonders at every turn. Come visit Luray Caverns and discover a world unto itself."
