All About WHEAT
Q: |
Tell me about WHEAT. Who are you and what are you all about? |
A: |
We Home Educate and Train ("WHEAT") began in the early 1990's as a loose-knit group of about a dozen families who desired fellowship and encouragement in their homeschooling efforts. The mission of WHEAT remains the same today: to share information, provide support for homeschooling families and those interested in homeschooling, and to enrich those families spiritually, academically, and socially. We are a local support group, not a co-op, but we offer many opportunities for fellowship and enrichent! |
Q: |
Do you offer co-ops and classes? |
A: |
WHEAT is primarily a homeschool support group; we do not host an official co-op. However, we share a wealth of information about clubs, co-ops, and other enrichment opportunities offered both throughout the community that some of our families are often involved in. Our families are encouraged to offer and participate in these opportunities! |
Q: |
If you don't have an official co-op or classes, how will I get to know the WHEAT family? |

Q: |
What is expected of me once I join? |
A: |
As with any pursuit, the more you invest in a group the more rewarding the experience and the richer the relationships will be. We highly encourage each member to support at least one WHEAT event each year, or take on a leadership position. Supporting events can be as low-key as volunteering for set-up or clean-up; hostessing or coordinating a mom's fellowship activity, or perhaps joining the leadership team. We welcome member article submissions to our newsletter (parents and students). Many hands make light work! |
