Woodbridge Homeschool Band
Would you like to enroll your children in a homeschool band? If so, here is some background information about the Woodbridge Homeschool Band.
The Woodbridge Homeschool Band (WHB) has been in existence for 20+ years and has had a positive
impact on the lives of hundreds of students. Although most of our students do not choose music as a career path, some of our WHB alumni have pursued music at some of the most prestigious schools in the
country including the Juilliard School, the Manhattan School of Music, the Curtis Institute, James Madison University, the University of Mary Washington, Bob Jones University, The University of Washington, Bard College, and others. One of our former students has just received her Doctorate in clarinet performance from the University of Washington; another has been selected as an oboist in the Cincinnati Symphony; and a third former WHB student recently graduated from James Madison University in Music Education. Without the Woodbridge Homeschool Band, they probably would not have had the opportunity to study music or to have music as a career choice.
The Woodbridge Homeschool Band meets each Monday afternoon at Dale City Baptist in Woodbridge,
Virginia. In the past we have offered beginning band, intermediate band, and advanced band. Covid-19 is having an impact on our offerings, and the 2021-22 band opportunities will depend on fall enrollment.
Contingent on parent/student interest, it is our intent to begin Homeschool Band in late August at Dale City Baptist Church in Woodbridge, Virginia. As Covid-19 has and is having an impact on our daily lives; it is necessary to implement the following requirements to ensure the safety of all students and staff.
Statistics indicate that Covid-19 and its variants are increasing throughout the United States, primarily among the unvaccinated.
Due to this increase in infections and the current unavailability of vaccinations for students younger than 12 years of age, only students 12 years and older will be eligible to participate in Homeschool Band at this time, and all students and staff must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19. This current requirement is to protect the staff and the students from transmitting this virus to each other. When Covid-19 and its variants are under control, these requirements will be reassessed.
Please respond immediately if you wish to participate in Woodbridge Homeschool Band under these requirements.
I look forward to hearing from you not later than August 1st in order to plan appropriately. If interested, or if you have questions, please contact me at the email address below and I will provide you with further information.
NOTE: For those who are currently unvaccinated, when and if your children’s vaccine status
changes they are welcome to join the Woodbridge Homeschool Band at any time.
