This is a synchronous (real-time or live) online course. Classes will be held via Discord.

   

This is a 15-week (18¾-hour) Spring semester class. There will be no class on Thursday 7 March (the eighth week of PHS classes). Tuition has been adjusted to reflect this schedule.

 
Star TYC 3203-450-1, located in the constellation of Lacerta (The Lizard), outshines galaxy NGC 7250. NASA.An introduction to modern astronomy and the universe as a whole. We will start with our own solar system and venture out to explore stars, galaxies, black holes, quasars, and more. We will delve into answers to answers to big questions like: Are we alone in the universe? What exists outside our galaxy? How do stars evolve and die? What is the fate of the universe? What do we know and how do we know it? Learn about multimedia tours, online telescopes, and research tools to help you with your explorations during class and beyond.

Students should plan to spend approximately 30-45 minutes per week on online exploration or reading.

$10 supplies fee covers online telescope access.
