Welcome to the BHHE 4-H Club Website
The Black Hills Home Explorers (BHHE) 4-H Club was established in 2015 and has grown to over 100 active members. We are the largest 4-H club in Pennington County offering a variety of learning opportunities for children ranging from 5 to 18 years of age. We currently offer project areas in: Anatomy, Archery, Arts & Crafts, Cloverbuds (5 to 7yr olds), Cooking, Creative Writing, Drama, Photography, Robotics, Sewing, and Vet Science. The project areas we offer can change from year to year.
4-H Open Enrollment begins October 1st of each year.
Our goal is to help our children grow and learn while bringing them together to enrich their lives and in turn their communities. The four H's stand for Head, Heart, Hands, and Health and our mission is exemplified in the 4-H pledge:
I pledge my head to clearer thinking, my heart to greater loyalty, my hands to larger service, and my health to better living, for my club, my community, my country, and my world.
What is the purpose of 4-H?
Nationally, the goal of 4-H is to develop citizenship, leadership, responsibility and life skills of youth through experiential learning programs and a positive youth development approach. Though typically thought of as an agriculturally focused organization as a result of its history, 4-H today focuses on citizenship, healthy living, science, engineering, and technology programs. The 4-H motto is "To make the best better", while its slogan is "Learn by doing".
