This class is designed for students who have taken Intro to Latin or have some experience with the
Latin language. If your child is younger than 6th grade and you have take an Intro. to Latin class, then you may request placement if Latin I with teacher approval.
Salvete omnes! Explore the language and culture of ancient Rome! The class will start with a review of the basic grammar concepts (the first half of Cambridge Latin Course Unit 1), and will cover the second half of Unit 1 to complete the equivalent of Latin I. Students will expand their knowledge of Latin vocabulary and grammar in the context of the Roman Empire, from gladiators to the fateful eruption of Mt. Vesuvius. Every chapter will include an interactive activity to further explore the Roman world!
We will be using the Cambridge Latin Course. You will be required to purchase the Unit 1 Textbook (4th edition) and the Unit 1 Omnibus Workbook. The textbook costs around $30 new, but you can find a used textbook in good condition for less on Amazon or Barnes & Noble.
Consists of 1-2 worksheets and/or a translation each week for the purpose of reviewing what we learned in class. Short quizzes will be given to test students’ knowledge of vocabulary and basic grammar concepts.
