Middle Ages through Early American Explorers - History 101/102
101 Class Expectations: 2nd-3rd grade
Notebooks are graded along with quizzes. Students need to be able to read, write, and copy notes from board. Because classroom activities will include presentations, dramatizations and simple projects, students will be expected to work with peers in groups and present. It is also expected that students will be able to conduct themselves appropriately to a classroom environment; i.e. be seated, raise hands to speak, and listen.
102 Class Expectations: 4th-6th grade
Notebooks are graded along with quizzes. Because classroom activities will include presentations, dramatizations and simple projects, students will be expected to work with peers in groups and present.
In this one year course, students will explore some of the social institutions and achievements of Europe, Asia and early America. The first semester will cover a brief overview of world history from the fall of western Rome to the 1400's. Second semester we will pick up our studies with the explorers and early peoples of North America. The year will conclude with the French and Indian War. This is not an in-depth study, but an adventure in exploring important highlights during this period.
Our classroom time will be comprised of discussions and activities which will include art, dance, theater, and simple projects. The students will have the opportunity to dive deeper into topics we are covering through two class presentations per semester. At home work will consist of notebook assignments, timeline, and textbook reading. This is a graded course. Overall points are earned through completed homework, presentations, and quizzes.
