Welcome to BRANCH!
Baltimore Regional Area Network of Creative Homeschoolers
The Baltimore Regional Area Network of Creative Homeschoolers is an inclusive, secular group, which strives to provide and foster face-to-face social interactions for area homeschoolers.
The state of Maryland requires homeschoolers to register with their county and have a portfolio of school work reviewed by an official every school year. Caregivers have two options within the state. They can join an umbrella organization or meet directly with a government reviewer. An umbrella organization works as a middleman between the parents and government. BRANCH is NOT an umbrella organization. There are several umbrella organizations in the state, and your local county’s homeschooling office can provide a list of groups. BRANCH members do not use one specific organization, nor do we recommend one organization or method of reviewing over another.
BRANCH is a network of homeschooling families. BRANCH is fluid, adaptable, unique, and supportive. Everyone is encouraged to plan, organize, and create trips, clubs, classes, playdates, and meetups. BRANCH is and becomes what our members design, plan, and support. Our members come from all walks of life and backgrounds. BRANCH does not prescribe to one thought, method, or belief of homeschooling, religion, or politics. We are secular and inclusive.
A few years ago, a small group of parents decided to create a co-op within the BRANCH network. The parent run co-op consists of social and interest based clubs for kindergarten and up. The co-op is one twig on the tree of BRANCH. (There is more space on the trunk for more co-ops.) BRANCH has used and uses libraries, parks, churches, and community centers to hold meet ups, clubs, and parties.
In order for BRANCH to continue to provide the support and community for homeschooling families to connect and play, we need motivated people who are willing to go out on a limb to conceive and build playdates, clubs, classes, field trips, and general fun. This is what BRANCH is. It’s the community our kids and us need to thrive.
