Please read all instructions carefully, and sign up and pay for only the child/children who will be attending the class!
This month – Maya - Discover the Continent's longest lived indigenous civilization and some of their enduring contributions.
This class is set up for students in grades 7-12, and is taught by HMNS teachers. Hands-on activities are part of each class, including live animals or specimen studies in some classes.
With payment of the class, you (the parent) will receive a chaperone sticker at no additional cost, which will allow you, as well as any children not participating in the class, to tour all regular exhibit halls during and after your child's class. The museum requires that two parents stay in the classroom as chaperones. There are a number of chairs set up in the classroom for parents, so if you are able to stay during class, please do.
On class day, please get your sticker at the school check-in podium located by the museum entrance, then make your way downstairs to the classroom. The quickest way to get downstairs is by using the elevators in the back by the Morian Hall of Paleontology entrance. Go to LL, take a right into the hallway, and follow signs to the classrooms.
Please be mindful of Houston traffic, and plan on leaving your house early enough to allow extra time to get to HMNS. Museum parking at the garage is $12. Just go to the box office and ask for a chaperone parking pass. You will need to show them your green chaperone sticker. There are other parking opportunities nearby. Some are free, but may require a bit of walking. Limited 3 hr. free parking is available next to the museum, but those spots fill up quickly.
The sign-up deadline for this class is February 16th. Please submit payment immediately after you sign up, or your child(ren) will be dropped from the class! The cost is $17 per child.
Please make sure the dates and times of all classes you sign up for work for your schedule. I am unable to offer refunds after the sign-up deadline, as the museum needs to be paid.
