FAQs

Q:

When does the co-op meet?

A:

The co-op typically meets 16 times during each school year on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of the month between September and May.  Accommodations are made for holidays and the MACHE conference.

Q:

What happens at co-op?

A:

Co-op begins at 9:00am with opening exercises, which includes the pledge of allegiance, announcements and prayer. Then three hour-long classes occur, which vary by grade. Kids in 6th grade and up can choose from a variety of classes. We also offer field trips, parties, volunteer opportunities, and moms’ nights.

Q:

How much does co-op cost?

A:

Cost will vary by the age of the child(ren). A family will typically spend around $100 for each student in K-5th grade and $90- $250 for each 6th-12th grade student depending on the classes chosen. Classes for older children usually involve more supplies and equipment, which increases the cost. In addition, nursery and pre-k classes for younger siblings, are offered for a small fee. There is also a $25 family fee.

Q:

Can I drop off my kids and have a morning to myself during co-op?

A:

A co-operative, by nature, means everyone pitches in to make sure the co-op meets the needs of all its members. Each co-op member has unique experiences, talents and gifts to share. Therefore, a parent from each family will be responsible to teach a class or be a helper in 2 classes. In addition, they will also have to fulfill a job during the year, which could include planning a field trip or party, organizing a volunteer or community event or fulfilling an ongoing weekly task necessary to make each co-op a success.

Q:

Can I check out the co-op before I join?

A:

Yes, families can tour on any co-op day to observe classes, meet some of the members and ask questions. To schedule a tour please email our director at homeschool@constancefree.org

Q:

How do I join the co-op?

A:

Please click on “Join” at the top of our website. An application will pop up for you to fill out and submit.  The co-op accepts new members based on the availability of space in the classes. If a family cannot be accommodated, they will be placed on a wait list.
